Marcelo Ebrard Ramos is a Mexican politician who currently serves as the Secretary of Foreign Affairs in Mexico. He was born on October 10, 1959, in Mexico City, Mexico. Ebrard has a degree in international relations from El Colegio de Mexico and a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University.
Ebrard started his political career in the 1980s and served as the Secretary of Public Security in Mexico City from 2002 to 2005. During his tenure, he introduced a number of reforms to improve the city's public safety and reduce crime. He also played a key role in hosting the 2002 Earth Summit in the city.
In 2006, Ebrard was elected as the Mayor of Mexico City and served two terms until 2012. As mayor, he implemented numerous social and environmental policies and initiatives, such as the construction of a new metro line, bicycle paths, and the introduction of electric and hybrid taxis.
Ebrard has been a member of Mexico's ruling political party, the National Regeneration Movement, since 2015.
